All right, let me clarify. Greeks invented central heating, however Romans advanced the technology the Greeks used tremendously so that they are often credited with the inventing of it.

As for indoor plumbing, that is the Romans, and as Steve showed, so are roads.

Greeks are credited with coming up with democracy, however like many other ideals they came up with, they didn't really act well upon them. Hence why Romans are also credited with elected government because they actually practiced it and evolved it, much like central heating. Only portions of the Greek community elected their government.

Either way, you're both missing the point. Both Romans and Greeks were very religious, and yet they both made huge advances in technology and idealogy.

I am not suggesting for a moment that a group, nation, or scoiety, cannot be religous (in some way), and NOT leave some sort of positive legacy behind, Lisa.

Even the SS, upon their defeat in WW2, they left some positives behind.

However, even a broken clock can get it right, twice a day.

The Romans didn't achieve what they did BECAUSE of their various gods and religous ideals. They would have achieved them just the same, without them.
